Dr. Terry and Judy Rowland

  About Us

Terry Clay Rowland was born in Nashville, TN and Judy Nichols Rowland was born in Oklahoma City, OK.  They were both raised in the Nazarene Church by Godly parents, Rev. A. C. and Marie Rowland and Vestal and Betty Nichols.  They both graduated from Bethany Nazarene College, now Southern Nazarene University.  They were married in December 1972.  Terry started pastoring in 1974 while attending BNC.  Terry and Judy have been ministering in the Church of the Nazarene for 34 years.

 

Dr. Rowland was asked to pastor the Crown Heights Church of the Nazarene in OKC at the age of 19.  They were at Crown Heights for five years before going to pastor the Mustang Church of the Nazarene for seven years.  Terry and Judy then answered the call to go to the New Castle, Indiana First Church of the Nazarene.  They served at that assignment for 18 years before being elected the District Superintendent of the Southeast Oklahoma District.

 

Terry served the Church as District NYI President on the Southwest Oklahoma and Indianapolis Districts.  He was the Sunday School Chairman on the Southwest Oklahoma District.  He has been a trustee on the Olivet Region for 10 years, Nazarene Bible College for four years and is now a trustee for the SNU Region.  Dr. Rowland was ordained in 1976 at the Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City.  In 1987 Indianapolis Christian University conferred on him the Doctor of Divinity degree.

 

Dr. and Mrs. Rowland have three children, all born in Oklahoma City.  Toby is 34 years of age and is a sports broadcaster for Channel 9 in Oklahoma City, a CBS affiliate.  Toby is married to the former Jennifer Smith of Chesterton, IN.  They have two sons, Trevor, age 10 and Payton, age 8 and a new baby daughter, Chloe Elizabeth, age 8 months.  Skipper is 28 years old and is an account manager and a surgical consultant for Surgrx, a surgical device company.  Skipper is married to the former Christa Burch of DeSoto, TX.  They have two daughters, Riley, age 5 and Reid, age 3 and a new baby boy, Rex Henry, age 4 months.  Penny Joy is 24 years of age and received her Master’s degree in Nutrition at Oklahoma University in December.  She is married to James Lee Johnson, Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico.  Jamie is a Spanish and Physical Education teacher at Bethany Middle School.  The Johnsons now have a new addition to the family, a baby girl, Maya Michele, age 5 months. 

 

Terry and Judy Rowland have made their home in Shawnee, OK and the District Office is in their home.
